Housing Tax Credit Program
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act includes two provisions for the Housing Tax Credit Program:
- Title XII of the Recovery Act appropriated $2.25 billion for the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP). $18.9 million was allocated for the State of Iowa. IFA was notified on June 22, 2009 that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved IFA’s submission for the $18.9 million.
- The ability for State tax credit allocating agencies to exchange certain allocations for cash from the U.S. Treasury (Section 1602). IFA was awarded $72.7 million in Section 1602 funds from the U.S. Treasury on June 4, 2009.
